Session 3: Part Two

How could we as literacy coaches assist high school teachers in integration of literature selections in their content area? For example, how might science teachers use picture books to illustrate science concepts?

Session 3: Part Three

Discuss how you might coach an American History teacher in integration of adolescent literature (historical fiction, jounrals, war realia) and text book reading.  Indicate how this might be of benefit to the reluctant or struggling readers.

Session 4: Part One

Describe how the online resources you chose to bookmark will benefit your professional development as a reading leader. Include a few of the resources you have chosen and what you liked about them.

Session 4: Part Two

Discuss elements of a critical literacy program for high school teachers in English and in Social Studies. What resources and strategies would you include in a professional development session with teachers in one of these disciplines? How will you help teachers understand the need to teach and the necessary skills to analyze skills from multiple viewpoints or perspective?
